Position Purpose
The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) will lead the implementation of school-based health programs in:
- Phaktanglung Rural Municipality
- Sirijangha Rural Municipality
The role focuses on:
- Improving school health systems
- Training teachers
- Coordinating with local stakeholders
- Ensuring sustainable health education programs
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation & Coordination
- Lead daily field-level project activities
- Organize school health programs and awareness events
- Coordinate with schools, health posts, and local governments
- Support infrastructure activities like birthing center improvements
- Ensure inclusion (GEDSI principles) in all activities
2. Capacity Building & Training
- Conduct teacher training programs
- Facilitate pre- and post-training evaluations
- Provide mentoring and classroom support
- Promote inclusive and gender-sensitive health education
3. Educational Materials Development
- Support development of IEC materials (manuals, posters, workbooks)
- Ensure proper distribution and use in schools
- Collect feedback for improvement
4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Conduct school monitoring visits
- Collect and analyze project data
- Prepare monthly and progress reports
- Document success stories and impact
5. Advocacy & Sustainability
- Advocate integration of school health into local policies
- Engage local governments and communities
- Promote long-term sustainability of programs
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Public Health
- Nursing
- Health Education or related field
Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
- 3–5 years in:
- School health programs
- Health promotion activities
- Experience in remote areas of Nepal (preferred)
- Experience in training and stakeholder coordination
Key Skills
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of school health and nutrition programs
- Data collection and reporting ability
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to work independently in rural areas
- Fluency in Nepali and English
