Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of IT and telecommunications systems, including servers, LAN/WAN networks, VSATs, optical fiber links, and power backup equipment, in line with WFP standards.
- Conduct routine system diagnostics, software and hardware updates, and network performance monitoring; assist in responding to basic cybersecurity incidents as per corporate guidance.
- Act as a focal point for information and content management using SharePoint and other WFP digital platforms, supporting data collection, processing, and reporting.
- Manage IT assets and inventories, including tagging, registration, verification, and reconciliation, ensuring accurate updates in corporate asset management systems.
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to end users and escalate complex issues when required; support workshops, meetings, and official events with IT setup and troubleshooting.
- Assist in IT-related procurement and budgeting by preparing technical specifications, tracking financial transactions, and ensuring timely delivery and documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date IT documentation, licenses, and system configurations, ensuring compliance with WFP administrative, information security, and audit requirements.
- Coordinate with Administration, Finance, and Procurement units to ensure compliant and timely procurement of IT and telecommunications goods and services.
- Support the development of standard materials such as training documents and web content to improve staff access to IT service information.
- Support the rollout and adoption of WFP corporate applications and digital tools, including basic user training and guidance.
- Contribute to service improvement by identifying recurring technical issues and proposing preventive and corrective measures.
- Work collaboratively with IT colleagues to ensure uninterrupted IT service delivery across office and field locations.
- Maintain organized and secure digital and physical filing systems for IT administrative and operational records.
- Support emergency preparedness and response by ensuring IT and telecommunications services remain functional in line with business continuity protocols.
- Perform other related duties as required to support effective and efficient IT service delivery aligned with WFP operational needs.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of secondary school education is required. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area and/or a university degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information technology is desirable.
Experience:
- At least five years of relevant work experience is required. Additional years of experience combined with professional certifications in areas such as IT Service Management, Cloud and Infrastructure, Systems and Network Administration, Information Security, CISCO, or Microsoft technologies will be considered an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in gathering user requirements and recommending basic automation and optimization solutions.
- Hands-on experience with service desk and ticketing systems to manage user requests and system events; familiarity with ITIL practices is an asset.
- Experience supporting country office-level procurement processes, property surveys, and budgeting forums.
- Practical experience in deploying and maintaining IT and telecommunications systems, including VSAT, radios, CCTV, PABX, firewalls, and server/network infrastructure.
- Proficiency in deploying and managing cloud-based platforms such as Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, Cisco Networks, SDN, and SD-WAN.
- Experience with cybersecurity and information security solutions, including their deployment and maintenance.
- Experience contributing to technical documentation, project briefs, and user guides.
- Experience supporting IT-related events, trainings, and simulation exercises.
- Exposure to emergency response or humanitarian operations is considered an added value.
- Experience engaging in small-scale IT projects and building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Languages:
- Excellent written and spoken proficiency in both English and Nepali.
