The “Empowering Women and Community-Based Organizations of Western Mountain for a Resilient Local Food System (EMPOWER)” project is funded by BMZ, with support from Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V. (WHH), and will be implemented from January 2026 to June 2029. The project aims to empower women smallholders, marginalized communities, and civil society actors to strengthen resilient local food systems in the Western Mountain region.
Specifically, women smallholders and youth from the targeted municipalities will adopt agroecology-based farming practices, while civil society actors and local authorities will promote agroecological principles to enhance local agrobiodiversity and strengthen food, nutrition, and income security at the community level.
Similarly, LI-BIRD is implementing a project titled “Empowered Communities and CSOs for Inclusive Nutrition Governance in the Hilly and Mountain Regions of Western Nepal (Better Nutrition)”, funded by the European Union (EU), from January 2025 to June 2028. The project aims to strengthen sustainable and inclusive nutrition governance through the effective implementation of the Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan III (MSNP III) in targeted areas.

1. Project Coordinator
Level: Level 8
Location: Kolti, Bajura
About Position:
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for the overall field-level implementation of the project in Budhinanda Municipality, Bajura, and for providing technical support to KCDC and strategic programs in Mugu. The PC will also support local governments in formulating, strengthening, and revising relevant policies, and work closely with community-based organizations (CBOs) and networks to facilitate coordination, institutional linkages, and capacity building on participatory and influencing program planning.
In addition, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for project documentation, monitoring support, and timely preparation of quality project reports in line with donor and organizational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Agriculture with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the agriculture and livelihoods sector is required. Candidates with a valid motorbike or scooter driving license and proven experience in project implementation and reporting, preferably within NGO/INGO or donor-funded projects, are strongly encouraged to apply.
2. Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer
Level: Level -7
Location: Kolti, Bajura
About Position:
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer will lead efforts to empower civil society actors (CSAs) and their networks to advocate for and promote agroecology-based approaches that enhance agrobiodiversity and strengthen local food systems at the municipal and provincial levels. The Officer will support local governments to harmonize, localize, and effectively implement policies related to the right to food and local food systems, ensuring alignment with inclusive and sustainable development priorities.
The role will also guide and support capacity development initiatives for partner organizations, including KCDC, and contribute actively to project planning, coordination, and implementation. In addition, the Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer will facilitate the mobilization and capacity strengthening of Civil Society Actors (CSAs) and the Women Advocacy Network (WAN) to advance inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable food system governance.
Required Qualification:
A Master’s degree in Agriculture with at least two years of relevant experience in the livelihoods sector, with a focus on nutrition-sensitive and/or agroecological agriculture, or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, is required. Candidates should have proven experience in community capacity building, advocacy, agrobiodiversity conservation, and nutrition–agriculture integration, preferably within NGO/INGO or donor-funded projects in Nepal.
3. Agriculture Officer
Level: Level - 6
Location: Kolti, Bajura
About Position:
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Agriculture Officer (AO) will support the field-level implementation, monitoring, and documentation of the project. Key responsibilities include field planning, implementation, monitoring, and quality control of project activities; capacity building of project beneficiaries; data management, analysis, and report writing; and providing technical backstopping to field staff.
The Agriculture Officer will ensure that project activities are implemented in line with the overall project goals, objectives, and expected outcomes. The role also requires close coordination with local governments, district line agencies, and other key stakeholders to strengthen program synergies, resource mobilization, and the scaling up of innovative and good practices.
Required Qualification:
A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in nutrition-sensitive and/or agroecological agriculture is required. Candidates should have proven experience in community capacity building, agrobiodiversity conservation, and nutrition–agriculture integration, preferably within NGO/INGO or donor-funded community development projects in Nepal.
4. Admin and Finance Associate
Level: Level - 5
Location: Kolti Bajura
About Position:
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Admin and Finance Associate will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounts for two projects and ensuring proper financial record keeping in line with organizational and donor requirements. The role will also provide support to project teams in administration, procurement, and logistics management.
The Admin and Finance Associate will closely coordinate with relevant staff to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, well-documented, and completed in a timely manner, contributing to effective project implementation and compliance with NGO/INGO financial management standards.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Commerce or Management with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required. Alternatively, candidates with 10+2 in Management and at least four years of relevant experience in a similar role are eligible to apply. Residents of Bajura and nearby districts are preferred and strongly encouraged to apply.
