The current phase places a strong emphasis on green jobs and circular economy principles, supporting environment-friendly enterprises that create income opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized communities. Effective monitoring, learning, and knowledge management are central to improving program quality, accountability, and long-term impact.

To strengthen organizational capacity and nurture emerging professionals, Helvetas Nepal is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Knowledge Management and Monitoring Trainee. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on professional experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Knowledge Management (KM) within a donor-funded development organization, contributing to evidence-based programming and institutional learning.


Key Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Knowledge Management and Monitoring Officer, the trainee will support Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning, and Knowledge Management functions through the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and entering program data from field-level activities.
  • Support tracking project progress against targets using tools such as Excel or other relevant software.
  • Prepare and organize data for reports, presentations, and reviews for the Project Coordinator (PC), Knowledge Management Officer (KMO), Team Leader (TL), and Country Office (CO).
  • Develop charts, graphs, and simple dashboards to support data visualization and analysis.
  • Participate in regular field monitoring visits and support data collection activities.
  • Assist in documenting, organizing, and archiving key project documents, including reports, case studies, and success stories.
  • Support the maintenance and updating of internal knowledge platforms, such as SharePoint or similar systems.
  • Assist in drafting knowledge products including newsletters, blogs, briefs, and presentations.
  • Help organize and facilitate team learning events, reflection meetings, and workshops.
  • Maintain a clear, structured, and user-friendly digital filing system for project and knowledge management documents.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Information Management, Communications, Statistics, or a related discipline. Fresh graduates with no prior work experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Willingness to undertake extensive field travel in project areas is required.
  • Strong interest in knowledge management, organizational learning, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and international development or humanitarian work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills, with confidence in working with data.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is essential. Familiarity with data collection tools such as KOBO and design tools (e.g., Canva) is an added advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, eager to learn, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
