About Organization:

KOSHISH is a national organization founded in 2008 to promote mental health and psychosocial wellbeing in Nepal. KOSHISH is a registered Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD) that focuses on psychosocial disability. It is also affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal (Reg. No. 25676). It is a member organization of the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN) since 2066/07/19 B.S.Guided by the principle of “NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US,” KOSHISH advocates for the inclusive and meaningful participation of individuals with mental health problems and psychosocial disabilities.

About Position:

The MEAL Officer will be in charge of overseeing the project's database and assisting with the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) initiatives. This position entails gathering, analyzing, reporting, and offering the team technical support to guarantee timely and accurate data that guides performance and decision-making. Working closely with the "Improving Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being among Vulnerable Communities of Nuwakot and Rasuwa" project team, s/he would also be expected to conduct research, produce project studies, create M&E tools, and implement them successfully in project activities. He or she will collaborate closely with the project and central team while working under the direction of the MEAL Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

Recording and Reporting Tools:

  • Develop recording and reporting tools in coordination with the MEAL unit, aligned with project activities.

Data Collection and Entry:

  • Oversee data collection from various sources, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Support technical teams and partners to ensure timely and correct data collection.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • QSC development; ensuring the checklist reflects measurable/observable criteria for activities implementation with minimum standard quality.
  • Periodic field monitoring by collecting and analyzing data on project implementation, verifying adherence to the QSC, and addressing deviations to maintain quality and alignment with objectives.
  • Database Management and Data Quality:
  • Maintain and update the database system, ensuring smooth operation. Implement data integrity, security protocols, and conduct regular backups in coordination with the MEAL unit to prevent data loss and ensure recovery.
  • Conduct routine checks and verifications to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency before sharing with HMIS/DHIS-2 using RDQA.
  • Maintaining high quality data across the project.

Indicator Tracking:

  • Assist the technical team in implementing the MEAL plan at the field level. Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. 
  • Monitor progress against performance indicators and targets and conduct regular data verification and validation checks.
  • Track and report progress against performance indicators on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.

Capacity Building:

  • Technical support in building capacity of project staff and stakeholders to ensure compliance and high-quality data reporting.

GEDSI Initiatives:

  • Integrate and promote Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into all relevant project activities as well as ensure that these important principles are reflected in the data collected throughout the project.

Communication and Accountability:

  • Ensure timely implementation of yearly plans and provide feedback to project teams.
  • Establish communication channels with project teams, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to capture input, suggestions, and feedback
  • Support the communications team in preparing KOSHISH annual reports.
  • Recording and managing ICFRM complaints and feedback.

Learning and Documentation:

  • Support in documenting quality evidence, lessons learned, best practices, and case stories in collaboration with the communications and documentation unit and project teams.
  • Disseminate evidence-based findings across various platforms. Produce periodic M&E reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Develop the project-based technical learning brief notes.

Baseline, Endline and Other Research:

  • Support in coordination with consultants for various baseline, endline and other research related activities conducted by KOSHISH.
  • Any other task assigned by the organization relevant to your experience and requirements for all the projects implemented by organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Science, Development Studies, Statistics, and Monitoring & Evaluation or related field (Master preferred).

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in MEAL, Research or Knowledge management.
  • Excellency in data analysis software e.g. SPSS, STATA, advanced excel etc., and familiar with KOBO, ODK, and MS-Forms.
  • Proven experience in working on data collection, management, and report preparation to track progress against indicator targets.
  • Strong analytical skills on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience in project evaluation, including project studies like baseline, midline and endline studies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office package.
  • Fluency in both English and Nepali is required.

Salary: Negotiable as per competence and experience
